So I’m talking about Sleaford Mods now. This is a duo from Nottingham, England. It consists of Jason Williamson (vocals) and Andrew Robert Lindsay Fearn (music). This duo experiments with alternative hip-hop, dirty spoken word passages and something like post punk. Well, the sound is minimalistic but extremely rough, rich and aggressive. That’s why Sleaford Mods is to be listened to. These are the men that got something to say and play; they are not just some regular cunts trying to make music. They just do it.
An accent, a gorgeous filth, groovy bass-lines and stories to tell – Sleaford has it all. You know I really want to go out and get drunk because of this music. And this desire is not doomed or depressive. It’s an incredibly positive and light need to drink vodka and do something while listening to any of SM songs.
Sleaford music is a perfect soundtrack for any of the stupid or unpredictable situations you might imagine. Arguing with a prostitute, fighting with a transvestite boxer, trying yourself in a porn industry, bleeding with vodka and sweating with beer, being chased by a maniac woman with a plastic knife, listening to shitty poems of a local poet in a bar, watching a masturbating cop on a street, talking to kitties, curing gonorrhea, vomiting on your new shoes, dancing with bears – are only a few associations which have come to my mind. Anything you can imagine is real in Sleaford Mods music world. Their music is multifunctional joy device. Like a mental vibrator fitting everyone with sophisticated taste and humor.
